What is Kosky obsessed with in the story, The Hermit of 69th Street?

Kosky is obsessed "with words, letters and numbers." The numbers six and nine in combination obsess him because of their obvious sexual reference, and the letters "SS" beginning sequential words brings back his memory of the Nazis and the war.
