Why does Fitzgerald list all of Gatsby's party guests in Chapter 4?

Fitzgerald does this to underscore the total hedonistic atmosphere of the event. 2/3's of the guests were not invited at all but attend because they are looking for a quick and easy time with anyone and everyone. It is a moral debacle even though the veneer is that of a high class party.
