Gatsby is larger than life. He is the embodiment of the rags to riches American dream. Gatsby had an energy that harnessed the new mood of America, an America where anything can happen, and dreams can come true. To Nick, Gatsby represents enigmatic hope for the future where talent and charisma might just rival the filthy rich who inherited their money.
