In The Great Gatsby Chapter 3, why is Jordan Baker described as looking contemptuous?

Jordan is an important contrast to Daisy. She is contemptuous because being deceitful herself she has the ability to know phony when she sees it. She is very aware that appearances can be deceiving and she absolutely knows that Daisy is a disingenuous.
