George Wilson is the husband of Myrtle Wilson and the reader meets him in his garage in the Valley of the Ashes.  he is oftne described as pale and ghost-like.  He is easily duped by his wife and readily believes her when she says that she is visiting her sister, when she is in fact meeting Tom Buchanan.  George also blames Gatsby for the death of his wife (when in fact it was Daisy) and it is he who kills Gatsby at the end of the novel, in a futile attempt to avenge his wife's death.

George Wilson is important becausee he serves as a stark contrast to his wife Myrtle. And it is is naive nature that finally leads him to kill Gatsby in the end.
