Describe symbolism in The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis

Brightness becomes a symbol for the "Bright People" and, by extension, surrendering earthly burdens for God's glory. The Bright People are glowing with detail while the ghosts who cling to their pain are pale and translucent.
