Personification:

When we studied Darwin last year, his ideas burned off the page.

Metaphor:

It was a Catch-22.

Simile:

If I had told Beth how I felt about her from the beginning instead of having Larry seduce her like some kind of cyber-Cyrano de Bergerac.
