Another theme in Golden Fool is feminine power. One who possesses this power the most is the Narcheska. She is the princess from the Out Islands. She is a little girl of 11 years-old, but she is powerful and beautiful. Her word is looked upon as the final word by her citizens. In Buckkeep, she struggles a bit with her feminine power because everyone looks at her like a child. The Narcheska asserts her power when she stands up to the Queen. When Dutiful insults her, she insults him back, and she tells the Queen she is not happy with the betrothal. Dutiful must slay a dragon and bring her its head in order for her to marry him. She asserts her feminine power over Dutiful and takes control of the marriage situation. Here, she is in complete control. Dutiful agrees to this challenge. Thus, her power wins.
