The setting of Golden Fool is in the Six Duchies. The Six Duchies is a rural state. Within it, there is Buckkeep Town. This is where the citizens live. It is a small, rural town with magical and non-magical people. Tom goes there to meet with Hap, his foster son. He goes there to see Jinna. He also goes there to drink at the Stuck Pig, the tavern for the Old Blood. Tom lives in Buckkeep Castle as a servant. The castle seems like a normal, medieval castle with chambers and elaborate rooms. It has a Great Hall, which is decorated beautifully and elaborately for occasions such as Winter Fest and the betrothal ceremony. The important room of the castle is King Verity's tower where the Skill lessons take place. Nothing is particularly special about the tower except that Verity used to dwell there.
