The nurturers are the people responsible for taking care of children in The Giver. Jonas's father is a nurturer.The role of nurturer is an assignment that is given during the Ceremony of Twelves. The nurturers are the people who care for newborn babies until they are assigned to their new families at the Ceremony of Ones.
