In The Giver, how did Jonas feel and what caused this feeling?

He has a great deal many feelings throughout the novel, so without knowing 'which' instance you are referring to, I guess I will pick one. When he begins to receive more and more memories he realizes and feels that people in the community are being robbed of a richer way of living. He can no longer be a part of something like this. He is able to see the horror and the loss of humanity that their way of life has caused.
