Chapter 7-10 - Jonas and locked door

Why is it uncomfortable for Jonas that there are locks on the Receiver's door? What does this tell us about their society?

This society has nothing that is secret or personal because it is so superficial. Everything and everyone is tightly controlled by the Elders. Adults have low emotional intelligence because they are never faved with real problems. Everything is decided for them. Locks imply individuality and personal space.
