Who is xan

Xan was orphaned as a young child. She was taken to a castle in the middle of the woods where witches and sorcerers performed magic. However, this was a very unhappy time for Xan. She cried herself to sleep every night because she missed her family. Each night, a Witch called the "Sorrow Eater" watched her through her door and ate her sorrow, leaving Xan frightened and alone and sad. A kind sorcerer named Zosimos was displeased about what the Witch was doing to Xan, so he claimed Xan as his student and provided her with the gift of magic. Xan was young and uncontrollable. She was a selfish child who enjoyed playing with her own magic, and she was too young to care about anyone else.
