Bruno Lensen is one of the first soldiers mentioned in the book. He almost always serves within the same unit as Sajer. Lensen is a Prussian, and he is proud of his heritage. He begins his military career in a transportation unit with Sajer, and he later volunteers for the infantry at the same time as Sajer, Hals, and others. Over time, Lensen and Sajer become familiar companions. Lensen proves to be exceptionally brave, and he is widely admired for his combat prowess.
