One major theme in The Floating Island is the power of friendship. Always a part of a loving and caring family, Ven has never lacked support or encouragement. After being thrown into the sea as a result of the explosion, Ven finds himself without his support system. Through the characters he meets, Ven learns the importance of friendship, as well as the many forms that friendship can take.
