Don Luis says he admires Don Jaime because he is exceptionally gifted. These gifts should entitle him to a status as a nobleman and Don Luis is embarrassed that within society circles people would respect him more because of his status. This, he says, is thoroughly undeserved and particularly as his status as a nobleman was bought by his father in the first place.
