Icarus is the name of the son of a famous father-son pair. The father and son needed to escape Minos, and they did so through the use of flying devices construced by the father. The son was lost during the flight because he became carried away with the ecstasy of the flight itself, and in his excitement failed to listen to his father's warnings.
