Frank Carson is described as a big man with military bearing. He has a square jaw and blue eyes, and he is known for his openess and congeniality.

Frank is a gifted amateur archaeologist, and he has been on Quraqua for six years without a break or a trip home. He was born in Edinburgh but remembers little of his past there. Frank is set to return to Earth and take a job in the Academy's personnel division, something that is a great career move, as it will allow him to stay in one place.

Once he is back on Earth, Frank is approached by Hutch with new information that leads them on another adventure to find the Monument Makers. The team includes many of the former members from Quraqua, and the discoveries made on this trip will forever change his plans to actually settle down.
