Who is Anna Rudomin from The Endless Steppe; Growing Up in Siberia and what is their importance?

Anna Rudomin is Esther's grandmother. She rules her home in Vilna with a majestic touch, and when the family is exiled to Siberia, she dresses in her best clothing.... hat included. Over time, she works as hard as the rest of the family, but after hearing that her husband perished in another camp, she loses her will to live. Regardless of her losses, however, Anna survives the exile and returns home with what remains of her family. She often visited the fields in Rubtsovsk to weep for her husband and mourn his loss.
