The author deftly uses perspective as a stylistic component in his novel. The Eagle's Gift is consistently written in the first person past tense as a study in revelation and clarification. Carlos writes movingly about situations and characters and things of mystery that he is beginning to understand. The final pages are filled with unprecedented pathos. The leap into the abyss, which mystifies much of this book and The Second Ring of Power is satisfactorily resolved.
