Who is Miep Gies in The Diary of Anne Frank by Albert Hackett?

Miep Gies was one of Mr. Frank's employees. She worked as a secretary in the warehouse and does everything she can to help the family while they're living in the annex. When Miep discovers Anne's diary, she puts it away and returns it to Mr. Frank when he comes home.
