Who is Yitzchak from The Devil's Arithmetic?

Yitzchak is the village butcher. He has high hopes of marrying Gitl before the Jews are taken to the camp. While at the camp, Yitzchak is the only prisoner who escapes during the breakout. He goes onto join in the Nazi resistance movement, after which, he moves to Israel. Yitzchak eventually goes into politics and serves in the Israeli Senate.
