Who is Shifre, Yente, and Esther from The Devil's Arithmetic and what is their importance?

Hannah meets Esther, Shifre, and Yente prior to Shmuel's wedding. The are close to Hannah in age, and along the way, Hannah will share many stories that the girls believe are fairy tales. All three of the girls die in the concentration camp.
