Who is Grandpa Will from The Devil's Arithmetic?

Grandpa Will is Hannah's grandfather. He is a Holocaust survivor, who remembers the horrors of that time, as if were yesterday. Hannah is often embarrassed by her grandfather's very verbal reactions to that time and attempts to remove herself when possible. She later comes to find out that Grandpa Will is Rivka's brother.
