A large portion of the book is dedicated to the discussion of how man is capable of causing his own demise. Throughout the book, men and women are the cause of their own problems as they dabble in the occult or in witchcraft in an effort to improve their own lives. The use of Ouija boards for friends or as a game, the use of magic mirrors to cause harm to others, the use of ritual spells to attract lovers, and the conjuring of spirits all result in an open door for inhuman spirits to attack.
