The Demon King is set in the Seven Realms, but concentrates on several regions within the Realms. The Seven Realms were once ruled from the Queendom at Fellsmarch, but since the Breaking things have changed. In those days, grain came from Arden, and the bread baskets were filled by Bruinswallow and Tamron. The coasts provided fish and game while gems and minerals came from the Spirit mountains. Fellsmarch Castle is surrounded by the Dyrnnewater and Fellsmarch is called the City of Light. A broad boulevard runs the length of the city and ends at the castle. The city of Fellsmarch is divided into two sections - Ragmarket, and Southbridge Market. A portion of the story takes place within the city, or the castle itself. The rest is divided between several clan camps including Marisa Pines Camp, and Demonai; the Spirit Mountains; and Oden's Ford where clansmen and wizards alike go to further their vocations or hone their crafts.

While there is discussion of Wizard Houses, such as Aerie house where the Bayars live, there is no actual time spent in that area excepting the name day party that is thrown for Micah and Fiona Bayar.
