The Contis’ house, which is located in an unnamed location, is the main setting in the novel, The Couple Next Door. On the night of the Stillwell’s dinner party, they leave their baby Cora in their house while they visit their next door neighbors’ house and during this time Cora is kidnapped. Throughout most of the investigation that follows, the Contis feel trapped inside their house because reporters surround it and the police keep coming to interrogate them. The entire novel takes place during one summer in modern times.
