In the play, Peace, the play ends with the protagonist throwing a harvest festival with his new wife celebrating the old non-martial virtues. These virtues are often the opposite of virtues extolled by tragic playwrights and Aristophanes continually lampoons those writers for glorifying violence at the expense of peace and foreshadows later comic conventions, Peace ends with a wedding, a common technique in later comedies.
