Beauty and Laurent's coupling foreshadows their future together but it also is a climax concerning their attraction for one another throughout the book. Laurent's transformation to Master is complicated by his approach to the Queen's realm where he will not have the opportunity to be anything but a slave. This foreshadows his punishment at the hands of the Queen. The Captain of the Guards presents the chest of finery to Beauty, announcing her return to royalty. Her sorrow to leave slavery and her disregard for clothing foreshadows her future with her suitors.
