The novel's turning point occurs when Cameryn becomes suspicious of Dr. Jewel. After she sees him mixing DMSO in his drink, which could cause some of the oddities she noticed during Rachel's autopsy, she sneaks into his hotel room to father additional evidence. During this search, she finds evidence that refutes his alibi, but Dr. Jewel returns to his room, and she must hide. Cameryn is discovered when her phone rings.
