The language used in this novel tends to be fairly casual and informal for the most part, though some scenes are written using forensic jargon, which can be more difficult to understand. Because of this technical language, it is helpful that the rest of the novel is so easy to understand. Also, the forensics are explained in detail so that readers can understand what is going on. This fits in naturally with the story as Cameryn is just beginning to work as the coroner's assistant so terms are often explained to her or she shows her understanding of forensics by describing certain objects or events.
