Who is Magda, and what is her importance in the memoir, The Choice?

Magda is Dr. Eger's oldest sister. She is portrayed as very sensual, a flirt, and a bit vain. She and "Dicuka" (i.e. Dr. Eger's younger self) relied on each other very closely as they struggled to survive the privations and difficulties of Auschwitz. She, like her sister, survived and emigrated to a new life in America.
