What are the motifs in The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov?

No matter where the story takes place there is control and an immense amount of structure imposed on the inhabitants. Whether this is instated to maintain a functioning society, or because it is a survival tactic, it demonstrates lack of an individuality and the strength of a controlled group. There is no sense of individualism allowed the people in the Cities or in Spacetown. They have differing classes and job rankings, but they all operate under conditioned air and eat processed foods. The concept of venturing away from the highways, onto the open countryside is a frightful one.
