Why is Holden so impressed with the nuns?

He feels that they are genuine and he has feelings of mercy and generosity toward them. They discuss Romeo and Juliet which shows us much more of Holden's personality and inner landscape. He says that nuns never eat anywhere 'swanky' and this also shows that he feels pity and empathy for others.
