The protagonist in The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe is a man by the name of Montressor. He is a very wealthy man and as a hobby collects fine wines. He has heard rumors that an aquaintance, Fortunato, has been talking about him in a not so nice way. Insulted, Montressor lures Fortunato to his mansion, dismisses all of the servants and sets about to dispose of Fortunato in a gruesome way. Montressor comes from an old family with a family crest that says: Allow no one to insult the family name without impunity (loose translation).
