Who is Uncle Stanley Weller from The Cape Ann and what is their importance?

Stanley Weller is Lark's uncle. He is married to her Aunt Betty. When Uncle Stan finds himself in financial difficulty, he has an affair with a German woman rather than deal with them. He later leaves for California to look for work, finds a job at a movie studio, and fails to invite his wife to join him.
