In Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, this story follows th story told in the MOnk's Tale. Everyone is disturbed and 'put off' by the Monk's tale and they call for someone else to tell the next tale. The next tale falls to the Nun's Priest. The story is about talking animals, and most importantly Chantecleer (rooster) who continues to have prophetic dreams about his impending doom at the hands of a fox. This fits the standards for a mock-epic because it takes a 'serious' plot line and makes it slightly comedic with the cock being made the epic hero of the day.
