Who is the host in Canterbury Tales?

The Host, Harry Bailey, he keeps the narrative going. He seems a jolly fellow who uses his good humour to keep the Pilgrims on story and restrain them from fighting each other. He wants to keep the journey full of merriment and looks down on stories of tragedy. I also think he is good at pointing out themes and lessons from the different tales he hears.
