In the book "Call of the Wild", what is apparent when Buck tries to sleep in the tent?

Buck's desire and expectation that he will sleep in a tent, speaks to the life he's lived.... pampered dog and companion. He has no concept of the wild, or the human expectation that he will sleep out in the elements.
