Fear is a recurring idea. Bourne cleverly uses fear tactics to unhinge members of the modern day Medusa. He has just enough information about the organization to plant terror in the mind of Albert Armbruster, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. (Page 97) Looking at the blood red message on the wall, Johnny St. Jacques felt "eye bulging horror." (Page 179) Fontaigne tells Jason that Carlos is near, because he can feel the fear. (Page 208) As Jason discovers the body of Ishmael, "the horror filling him as disbelief and fury spread within him."
