Will’s courage is fully displayed as he helps the circus performers fight off Brogan’s men on top of the train. His merciful side is also shown, along with Maren. Neither one is trying to outright kill any of Brogan’s men, just stop them from fighting. Mr. Dorian continues to show a more ruthless side and Will outright finds himself questioning whether or not he should trust Mr. Dorian. He wonders if he even cares that one of his performers died while trying to get the painting. Mr. Dorian comments on how much he spent trying to get the painting, but doesn’t specifically mention the fact that people have died for him. He does at least show some sympathy for the lost performer, but it’s hard for Will to tell if that was genuine or just a result of his heart failing. This continues the theme of the wealthy being obsessed with their own wealth and personal gain and caring little for the needs of anyone beneath them.
