She is a little girl during World War 2 and is living with an older couple. She is bright, but has faced alot of loss already. Her brother dies on the train and she has to live with people she doesn't know (and she doesn't think that Rosa, the older woman, even likes her). Despite all of this she makes the most of where she finds herself. She is a strong person and has a firmly rooted notion of right and wrong.
