What is the overview of Chapter 2?

In Chapter Two, Amber supports Kayla getting the bar code tattoo, even though Kayla has reservations. Shortly after, Kayla arrives home and finds everything in chaos, there's a crowd of people around her house, and her father is being carried away on a stretcher. Ashley tells Kayla the "bar code did this," but doesn't add anything further. After her father dies, there is an article in the paper that claims Mr. Reed took his own life.
