James Madison was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and one of the authors of The Federalist Papers. He argued in favor of the ratification of the Constitution, as he believed that the Articles of Confederation were too weak, and that a more powerful federal government was required to fix the problems of the Articles. Madison drafted the Constitution and much of the Bill of Rights.
