The Chevalier Tialys and the Lady Salmakia from The Amber Spyglass are a race of beings who are very small (almost fairy-like) and ride dragonflies or hawks as their steeds. They are employed by various factions to spy on others. They only live 9-10 years and are quite ferocious and proud.
