In the Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Tom is often forced to partake in cultural and religious activities that he finds boring. The Sunday School that he was made to attend gave out tickets for learning and memorizing bible verses. Tom, of course, figures out a way to con everyone out of their tickets and is able to turn them all in for a new bible.

every 2 verses you get a blue ticket

for every 10 blue tickets you get a red ticket

for every 10 red tickets you get a yellow ticket

for every 10 yellow tickets, you get a bible worth about 40 cents
