Dikaiopolis refuses to share his peace with anyone, even though he once wanted peace for all of Greece and condemned the greedy politicians that perpetuated the war. He refuses Dercetes peace to help his eyes that have been cried out from his stolen oxen. The slave of a groom is also denied peace for his master by Dikaiopolis. Only when the slave of the bride begs for peace does Dikaiopolis give in, only because she is a woman and had no hand in the war.
