Generally, the language of the stories is literate though not difficult, with a significant amount of use of the slang used by soldiers of the period. There is some difficulty in the use of terms for military equipment. For example, a PBY plane is shown after several descriptions of its activity to be a seaplane that can land on water. Other initials are used for various fighter and bomber planes.
