Who is the protagonist in the story, The Line, from the collection, Table For Two?
.
.
Pushkin, the protagonist of the story, The Line, is a simple and uncomplicated peasant farmer from Soviet Russia who is compelled to move to Moscow by his wife, Irina, who wants to begin participating in the Communist Party. Pushkin himself is largely unmoved by the political goings-on in Russia and would prefer to tend to his crops and fields; he finds himself both overwhelmed with homesickness and horrible at the various industrial jobs that Irina attempts to procure for him upon their arrival in Moscow. Eventually, Irina grows tired of trying to make a good Communist out of Pushkin, and instead instructs him to spend his days waiting in the various long lines so as to procure food and supplies for their household.
