Sweet Thursday is a novel and sequel to Cannery Row written by John Steinbeck. Set in a section of Monterey, California known as "Cannery Row", Doc comes home from the war only to find that everything in his hometown has changed and the people he knew are either dead or gone. The transformation of Doc's town leaves him lost, depressed, and without a sense of purpose. The novel's main conflict is centered around Doc's struggle and determination to get his life back and find happiness.
